The 5 star Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar, Pakistan was destroyed today by a car bomb containing over 1000 pounds of explosives.
This follows in the wake of the destruction of The Marriott Hotel in Islamabad last September which was owned by the same investment group.
This appears to be in response to the Pakistan Governments offensive against the Taliban which has resulted in an extremely high casualty rate amongst civilians. The Pakistani weapon of choice are helicopter gunships which spray bullets in a sweeping and random pattern without regard for residential areas or commercial districts.
Using this method, hundreds of civilians are wounded or killed in the process of attacking the Taliban.
