The African Union today announced that it will not cooperate with the International Criminal Court to arrest Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir for the egregious criminal acts he has committed against the people of the Darfur region.
Mercenaries under the President’s direction have engaged in wanton brutality against the people including chopping off the hands of women and children, cutting off their feet, chopping off their legs, raping the women, burning the children alive.
The unbelievable butchery, rapes, and murders committed against the citizens of Darfur are without modern parallel. The Presidents excuse is that the state has an obligation, and a right, to fight rebels.
The United Nations says 300,000 people have died in Sudan and more than two million have fled their homes since fighting erupted in 2003 between black-African rebel groups and the Khartoum government.
