
The Russian Federation entered into a contract with the Republic of Cuba to explore for oil in the Gulf of Mexico where it is predicted there could be as much as 20 billion barrels.
A term of the contract provides Cuba with $150 Million worth of equipment and agricultural supplies, tying in nicely with Raul Castro’s demand last week that Cuban’s begin cultivating the agricultural land that has remained barren for so many years.
Barren simply because there was no machinery available in Cuba or the ancient equipment owned by Cuban farmers could no longer be repaired.
