In an interview yesterday Canadian Liberal Member of Parliament, Bob Rae, said he was stunned when refused entry into Sri Lanka. His visa had been granted and two Canadian officials were there to greet him. He had been working with the Government for 10 years.

He said he thinks the Defence Minister, who is the brother of the President of Sri Lanka made the decision. Other officials had been denied entry. The Swedish Minister and a British official.

He went on to say the Military had put on a Victory parade the previous week and declared they had won the civil war. They wanted the West to back off and leave them alone in their solution to their country's problems.

There are camps full of political prisoners and the UN is trying to find ways to help the prisoners. Bob Rae said innocent people are being held in these camps who have done nothing wrong. He wants to maintain aid to the people and keep the door open that the Government wants to shut.
