In a bizarre turn of events, Iran's Ambassador to Mexico, Mohammad Hassan Ghadiri, claimed that the CIA may be responsible for Neda's death based upon the type of bullet which killed Neda. Apparently, the bullet fragmented internally and Ghadiri says part of the bullet was found in the victims head. Ghadiri claims that this type of bullet is not used in Iran and therefore suspects that the killing was orchestrated by either the CIA or a terrorist group.
Every effort is being made by Iranian authorities and Iranian media to defuse the circumstances surrounding Neda's death and place blame on other factions. The fact remains that Neda was killed by Tehran's police who fired randomly into the crowds that assembled on June 20th. Often as many as 20 or 30 bullets were fired and videos of the events that day prove that this was a method used by the police to break-up the crowds.
Iran is taking the position that Neda must not be considered a martyr and her killing should be denounced as the act of a foreign government or agency. Either Iran believes that its citizens are idiots or Iranian authorities are themselves imbeciles. There isn't a credible word spoken by any Iranian authority and the more they attempt to deny their actions the more complicit they appear.
Seventy (70) professors who are supporters of opposition leader Mirhossein Mousavi were arrested when they met with Mousavi. All were subsequently released unharmed however this demonstrates the efforts made by the Iranian government to intimidate any and all supporters of Mousavi.
Voting irregularities continue to surface including huge numbers of votes exceeding the entire population of a town or city and extradordinarily fast election results indicating that an actual count did not occur.
