First UK Swine Flu Patient Death

The first person to die of the swine flu in the UK was a woman who had underlying health problems. She was one of 10 people being treated in the greater Glasgow area.

140 people have now died of the flu in the Americas. 500 people in Scotland now have the virus out of 1,262 cases in the UK.

Virologist Professor John Oxford said there is no need to panic and the country is well prepared in terms of anti-viral drugs.
