California to save money by scrapping textbooks

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to save money by having math and science high school students access online texts instead of using text books.

$350 million was spent on textbooks last year apparently and California can no longer afford that.

How is this all going to work out I wonder?? What about students who can't afford to have a computer at home- how will they be able to do their homework? Will they have to stay at school later and if so, what if they have jobs after school they need to get to? Good idea to have students keeping up to date with the latest technology but how will this affect the students and their education? Sphere: Related Content
