Manson Family Wants Freedom

Charles Manson and his followers think it's time they were released on parole. So does the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Problem is that no one else agrees.

They are elderly and infirm. Paralyzed from inactivity for 40 years. Each suffering the ailments of old age. The reality is that they are safe in prison but certainly unsafe in society. How long before they would be gunned down or stabbed as they walked to the supermarket.

In effect, releasing them now would be the death sentence they avoided when the Supreme Court struck-down the death penalty laws in 1972. In you believe in an eye for an eye then releasing the Manson Family would be the justice you yearn for.

In a civilized society we would not tolerate their release and subsequent death. What's the point of releasing them and then prosecuting their killers for murder? Break the circular reasoning and let them finish out their lives in prison where they are treated with a degree of respect, even celebrity.
