WHO set to declare Swine Flu pandemic today

The World Health Organization is set to declare the first global pandemic today in more than 40 years. Swine flu has now spread to 74 countries causing at least 141 deaths raising the scale from phase 5 to the highest level of 6. Some scientists believe there are similarities to the the 1918 flu outbreak which killed from 40-50 milliion around the world.

We are going to be told not to panic. I guess we won't panic then. Are the hospitals ready for the outbreak? No. Is there a vaccine ready? No. We will likely be told to keep washing our hands and sneeze into our sleeves. I guess every little bit helps but hopefully this will trigger a bit of 'panic' amongst the drugmakers anyway to produce a vaccine.
We've been warned for the last several years to expect this yet it seems we still are surprised and not ready at all.
